In Milan's fashion district, young designer Emily hunted for inspiration for her new collection. At the materials market, she discovered thermochromic yarn (aka temperature - sensitive, thermosensitive, heat - sensitive, or temperature - responsive color - changing yarn).
Back in her studio, Emily knit a sample with the yarn. As the studio's temperature shifted, the fabric's color transformed from a single shade to a dreamy blend.
She designed a "Four Seasons" collection. A dress's thermochromic skirt mimicked spring. When the wearer moved from cold to warm, its color changed from light blue to pink, mirroring blooming flowers. The color change depended on ambient temperature.
Emily also made a sweater. When the wearer exercised and their body temperature rose, its gray pattern turned bright orange, reflecting their energy, reacting to body temperature.
At Fashion Week, Emily's collection was a hit. Thermochromic yarn transformed clothing into interactive art, breathing new life into fashion and making wearers stand out.
